Disturbingly Allure

Quiet, in the midst of romance, lies an intrepid voyage, experienced by a few. Romance is a calm breeze, soothingly stimulating your senses and making you feel weak at the knees. A time comes when this gentle wind turns into a gale wiping the romance and making way for love to blossom. The lovers in their lost world of caressing one another seems like a bird feeding her hatchlings. Eyes half-lidded and gazing at one another with lust, mouths wide open blowing hot air into each others ears, hands are in an utter disarray of where they should rest and they wander around like a lost jew. Love is something so ugly that the human race would die out if lovers could see what they were doing”  as the great Leonardo Da Vinci said it. The love birds are lost though in their intimacy and they go on to write their sex memoir.

Disturbance in the art world adumbrates the mystified pieces in the art which possess a viewer like a body possessed by a demon. This paradoxical vibe induces an overwhelming experience where the artist is on one side of the spectrum and the audience on the other, both linked by the infinite meanings the art may possibly portray.

The process of romance, love and sex repeats itself in the quotidian occurrences. What’s next is where the imagination of an artist comes in. His thirst is never quenched like that of the love birds, in fact, his quest starts when the intimacy is over. To ingurgitate his artistic desires, the artist chooses the uncanny ways, where his artwork causes a disturbance in one’s  peaceful reality. No one questions or is evoked if there is peace but if a delirium occurs everyone starts to panic. This delirium may have happened and the artist might then have portrayed it in his paintings. Like, Picasso did it in his famous painting Guernica.  This piece of art shows the atrociousness of war and the sufferings it inflicts upon individuals. Or it can be created purely from imagination which depicts reality. The imaginative reality bewilders the on-lookers and they see a lake of tranquil blue water to submerge themselves in.347598578_2055495130_o

There are thousands of beautiful paintings but they are empty. The emptiness and the hollowness are due to the missing of disturbance in them. Without disturbance the work of art is incomplete.

Your indulgence is always pure towards the seductive and shady sides of things. It can be a morphed reality where the urge is obscene, but you yearn to be a voyeur to it.

Salvador Dalí has produced some of the most iconic paintings. One of his masterpieces the Metamorphosis of Narcissus is a standout. Dalí used a technique which he described as “hand painted colored photography” to paint this piece. The painting is a representation of the Greek myth of Narcissus who only admired and loved himself and broke many a hearts. The Gods punished him by making him fall in love with his reflection. He died of frustration when he discovered that he cannot embrace his reflection.

In the painting, Narcissus is kneeling looking at his reflection in the water and the transformation is depicted with the hand holding an egg and flower. In the background, Narcissus is seen posing before his transformation. Delí described the method used for this painting as “Spontaneous method of irrational knowledge, based on the critical-interpretative association of the phenomena of delirium” (The Conquest of the Irrational, published in The Secret Life of Salvador Dalí, New York 1942).

Dalí had a fascination with hallucination and delusion and I see both of these as a form of disturbance. This disturbingly figurative painting that Dalí created evince the aesthetic feelings the audience is craving. He never shouted out loud with this painting, all he did was altering your sophisticated consciousness.

-You might not yet be ready to take a glimpse of the unblemished, but if it’s hedonistic and horny you don’t lose a moment to glance. Your indulgence is always pure towards the seductive and shady sides of things. It can be a morphed reality where the urge is obscene, but you yearn to be a voyeur to it.

Things in their normal form or shape are merely there. You don’t even care if they exist or not but one change in their form or shape catches your attention. Why? Simply because the reality is disturbed and this is what great artists do. They surprise you with the stinging reality which you avoid or whether you think actually exists or not. Remember, when I said, in the midst of romance, lies an intrepid voyage, experienced by a few.  You must have known by now who experiences those intrepid voyages in the sensations of romance. They have coveted cults experienced by the heretics. Flummoxed? –Create your own disturbing reality which allures others to drench in amusement and veneration of your reflection.
